"Dust": Dr. Kay Scarpetta's medical examiner retourns
Plot
Kay Scarpetta has finally returned to her home in Cambridge, after the last hard case , when she receives a call from her historical work mate , Pete Marino , who informs her that the body of a young woman was found on the baseball field of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Soon it discovers that she is Gail Shipman, a computer engineer who has in progress a lawsuit against a millionaire financial brokerage company that sent her on bankrupt. Scarpetta doubts that this is a coincidence and also the fear that this case is somehow connected to his granddaughter Lucy. At first sight, the cause of Gail Shipman’s death is not clear: her body is wrapped in a towel and it’s composed in a particular pose. This suggests that the person who killed her wasn’t a novice . On her body are also found traces of fluorescent powder red blood, emerald green and sapphire blue. All these elements connect this fact to a series of sexual homicides committed in Washington by a serial killer nicknamed Capital Killer. The famous anatomical pathologist and her collaborators soon find themselves faced with a scenario much more disturbing than a simple case of serial killings, a sinister world that has to do with the synthetic drugs and the new technology of the drones, which involves crime organized and the highest governmental positions.
